Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fiber Missile Crew Members to join our dynamic team. This position involves working with specialized fiber missile equipment used to install fiber optic cables in underground utility conduits. The ideal candidate will be experienced in fiber optic cable installation and trenchless technology, with a strong focus on safety, precision, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup and operation of fiber missile equipment to efficiently install fiber optic cables in underground conduits
- Prepare and maintain job site equipment and tools, ensuring all machinery is in working order
- Assist in the safe operation of fiber optic cable launches and retrievals using fiber missile systems
- Work with the crew to troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation processes
- Perform site surveys, preparing necessary equipment for specific project needs
- Follow all safety procedures, regulations, and company policies to ensure the safety of yourself and the crew
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including daily reports and materials used
- Communicate with team members, supervisors, and clients to ensure project objectives and timelines are met
- Assist in the maintenance and inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or project manager
Qualifications
- Previous experience with fiber optic cable installation, including use of fiber missile equipment, is preferred
- Basic understanding of fiber optic cables, splicing, and testing methods
- Knowledge of underground utility installation methods and trenchless technology
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented with excellent communication skills
- Ability to operate and maintain job-specific equipment safely
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fiber missile technology (e.g., horizontal directional drilling or similar equipment)
- Familiarity with telecommunications network designs and installation
- Training in fiber optic splicing and testing
